Founders Message

Esteemed Physicians,
Today, we celebrate your remarkable achievements and the beginning of a journey that will shape the future of medicine. Reflecting on the words of my husband, “The whole world is God’s kingdom and there are no strangers, no others,” I urge you to approach the world with patience, compassion, hope, and resilience. Your journey has been arduous, and the path ahead, especially for those taking the USMLE, is equally demanding. But remember, each challenge is an opportunity to grow and make a profound impact on global healthcare.

My husband, Professor Haq Nawaz, often said, “Education is the passport to the future.” He embodied the transformative power of knowledge. As you step into this new chapter, embrace every challenge and failure as a steppingstone towards your ultimate goal. Preparing for the USMLE is not just about passing exams; it’s about demonstrating your commitment to excellence in healthcare. Utilize every resource, seek mentorship, and remain steadfast in your efforts. The journey to becoming a licensed physician in the U.S. is rigorous, but the impact you can make is immense.

Your journey is unique. Celebrate each milestone and support one another. Build a network of peers who uplift and inspire you. The world needs doctors like you—passionate, skilled, and compassionate. Stay curious, passionate, and true to your values. Remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Take that step with confidence and know that you have the foundation to succeed.

On behalf of all who believe in your potential, I wish you immense success in your future endeavors. Continue to inspire, heal, and lead with excellence. Congratulations on passing the USMLE Step 1 exam and finishing your internship. Godspeed and remember, in the words of Steve Jobs, “Stay hungry, stay foolish.” The world needs you.

I am also proud to announce that the Professor Haq Nawaz Foundation is offering $100,000 in student scholarships. This initiative aims to support outstanding medical graduates like you in your pursuit of excellence. Applications open on August 22nd. We believe in your potential and are here to support your journey.

Our house, our table, and our prayers are always open and lifted for your success. I look forward to meeting many of you during the interview and mentoring process, just as my husband did for 53 years. He loved the youth, physicians, and his students as his own, often praying with moist eyes that God would help him guide and strengthen young Pakistani physicians. His life’s calling was to support you, and it made him proud to see your success. When asked what his idea of happiness was, he would say success; success with duties, responsibilities, and endeavors both for this world and the hereafter.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my parents, Mr. Eshaq, and Begum Zeenat Eshaq Shafi, for instilling in me the values of dedication, promise, simplicity, and benefiting others. These principles led me to attract a beautiful man into my life who helped me realize the importance of touching lives and leaving everything better than he found it. He taught me to value the moment, to hold the ties of kinship strong, and to never give up. His wisdom and love continue to inspire me every day. With his legacy, I continue to realize my own calling of being a source of strength to the younger generations.

I also want to thank my parents-in-law, the renowned radiologist Dr. Ibrahim, and Begum Shahnaz Ibrahim, who loved me as their own daughter and brought into my life the gift of this man who, even in his last breath, looked at me with the same love as when he prayed over me, often saying, “God be your Solace & Strength, Gullo.”.

I am thankful to God for this opportunity to invite you to Professor Haq Nawaz’s table and offer you the same love and support I extend to my children Mehreen, Mahrosh, Zaim, and their children Saad, Zoeya, Zavair, Natalia, Aryan, Noor, Zahra, and Zoha. I pray they carry on their grandfather’s legacy in community, service, and education. I encourage you to serve with a heart full of kindness, expecting no return, and always striving to leave the world better than you found it. In the words of Steve Jobs, “Stay hungry, stay foolish.”

Warm regards,

Dr Gulnar Haq Nawaz
