PCB to evaluate leadership roles ahead of Australia tour in key meeting

To strategise for the future of Pakistan cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the “Connection Camp,” a high-level gathering and workshop. September 22 is the scheduled date of the event, which PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will chair. Several influential people, including head coaches of the red and white teams, Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten, will be present at the meeting. Senior cricket players, coaches, and PCB executives will also be present, along with the heads of the departments of high performance, domestic, and international cricket.

The “Connection Camp” will concentrate on choices that will be made in the future using the feedback received from the workshop. It’s anticipated that possible leadership changes for the team would be one of the key subjects of conversation.

A review is being conducted of the current leadership system, which includes the positions of Test captain Shan Masood and white-ball captain Babar Azam.

After being left out of the Champions One-Day Cup captaincy, Babar Azam’s status as the white-ball skipper has come under scrutiny.

This development raises the possibility that he would be replaced before Pakistan plays three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals in Australia as part of their forthcoming tour.

Gary Kirsten had previously spoken with PCB officials about captaincy issues. He left the country in July after submitting a report.

For all three forms, Muhammad Rizwan’s name has been floated as a possible new captain; his candidature will be taken into consideration during the meeting.

The PCB wants to use the input from the “Connection Camp” to make well-informed decisions regarding the leadership positions within the team and the future course of Pakistan cricket.
