Pakistan vs England Test series: PCB confirms Multan and Rawalpindi as venues

Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has responded to the confusion around the locations of the national team’s next three Test matches against England. According to media reports, the series, which was initially scheduled to start on October 7, may not happen as planned. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) may become the new host because of current repairs at Pakistan’s key stadiums.

Speaking at The Oval prior to England’s third Test match against Sri Lanka, England head coach Brendon McCullum underlined his dissatisfaction with the lack of clarity.

“We can’t choose a team until we know where we’re going to play, but we don’t really know (what is happening in Pakistan),” he stated. “It would be good if we learnt over the course of the next few days.”

Naqvi addressed the worries by stating that the Test series will go forward in Pakistan, with games taking place in Rawalpindi and Multan. Additionally, he gave the assurance that the arrangements have been approved by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

“Rawalpindi and Multan will host the home Test series against England,” Naqvi stated.

He said, “We spoke with the England board, and they are happy.”

The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 will feature the series, which is slated to run from October 7–28.

In addition, Naqvi declared with assurance that Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, even if there is still some doubt over India’s involvement in the competition.

The event is slated to take place in February and March of 2025, but it is still unknown how India will participate since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still awaiting government clearance for the team’s itinerary.

“We are in contact with the BCCI Secretary; the Champions Trophy will take place in Pakistan,” he declared.

He said, “[We are] also in contact with the boards of the teams that are playing for the Champions Trophy.”
