Foreign Office supports Lebanon's sovereignty, condemns Israel's actions

Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s recent military actions against Lebanon, calling them a serious violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a press briefing on Thursday. She also criticized the ongoing violence in Gaza, accusing Israeli forces of violating international humanitarian law.

Baloch condemned the return of a container carrying 88 decomposed Palestinian bodies to Gaza, calling it a violation of human dignity and international standards. She urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Discussing Pakistan’s international engagements, Baloch noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is in New York attending high-level meetings at the 79th UN General Assembly session. The Prime Minister called for global support to help developing nations facing debt traps and climate-related disasters, and he stressed the need for reforming the global financial system to create fairness for vulnerable countries.

Baloch also mentioned the Prime Minister’s participation in meetings on the threat of rising sea levels and the UN Security Council’s peace leadership debate. She added that Pakistan will actively pursue these goals when it takes its seat on the Security Council next year.

On the Kashmir issue, Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to providing diplomatic, political, and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) contact group on Jammu and Kashmir reaffirmed its support for Kashmiris during a recent meeting at the UN General Assembly.
