CJP Isa determined to secure extension, Fawad Chaudhry claims

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has claimed that Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, is actively seeking an extension, suggesting that such actions could lead to political instability in the country.

Speaking to reporters outside Islamabad’s accountability court, where he was present for a hearing related to a corruption scandal, Fawad criticized the lengthy inquiry into his case, which has been ongoing for eight months.

“They fabricate fake cases to tarnish reputations,” Fawad remarked, referring to the corruption investigations.

He also expressed concerns about the current political climate, stating that rising tensions are exacerbating divisions within the country. Furthermore, he commented on the leadership of the Supreme Court, alleging that Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s management is facing significant objections.

“There are numerous complaints about how the Chief Justice is running the Supreme Court. It appears he is determined to secure an extension, which is detrimental to a stable Pakistan,” Fawad stated.

However, he did not specify the sources of these complaints or clarify how an extension would destabilize Pakistan.

Fawad also called for political dialogue, urging all political parties and the establishment to unite in addressing the country’s mounting challenges. He emphasized that stability cannot be achieved without acknowledging the political influence of Imran Khan.

The corruption reference hearing was presided over by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, who instructed the investigation officer to submit a full report at the next hearing, scheduled for October 17.
