Pakistan’s rising squash talent, Ashab Irfan, has claimed victory at the Mile High 360 Classic Squash Tournament in the USA, overcoming fellow Pakistani player Asim Khan in a thrilling final. The intense match, lasting 112 minutes, saw Ashab emerge victorious with a 3-2 win, finishing with scores of 15-13, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8, and 11-9.
Held in Denver, this tournament offered a prize pool of $15,000. In the semi-final, Ashab stunned the top-seeded Canadian, David Baillargeon, by defeating him in straight sets, with scores of 11-6, 12-10, and 11-7. Ashab now moves on to the semi-finals to face England’s Tom Walsh.
In another recent achievement, Pakistan’s Muhammad Asim Khan won his first-ever World Tour title at the Charlottesville Open Squash Championship 2024 in Virginia, USA. Asim triumphed over England’s top-seeded Nick Wall in a 65-minute match, turning the game around after an initial 12-14 loss to secure a 3-1 victory with scores of 12-10, 11-5, and 11-6.
This championship, with a prize pool of $28,750, marks a significant milestone for Asim, earning him 500 ranking points that will likely elevate his global position.
