TikTok slashes hundreds of jobs

KUALA LUMPUR:
TikTok has announced plans to cut hundreds of jobs worldwide, with a substantial impact expected on employees in Malaysia, as the platform transitions to AI-driven content moderation.

The ByteDance-owned platform shared on Friday that these global reductions aim to improve moderation efficiency. Though specifics by country were not disclosed, less than 500 roles in Malaysia are anticipated to be affected.

A TikTok spokesperson confirmed that the move aligns with the company’s goal to enhance content moderation on the platform.
