Kate Cassidy, Liam Payne’s girlfriend, recently shared the reason she left Argentina shortly before the tragic passing of the former One Direction singer. Liam, 31, died on October 16 after a fall from his Buenos Aires hotel room’s third floor.

Cassidy returned to Florida days before the incident, mentioning on TikTok that the trip had extended far beyond their original five-day plan. She shared, “I was ready to go… our five-day stay turned into two weeks.” While documenting her return flight, Cassidy playfully pointed out her seat number, “1D,” in a nod to Liam’s band, One Direction.

Local authorities reported that, soon after her departure, Payne fell roughly 13 to 14 meters in an incident that required emergency services at his hotel. Alberto Crescenti, the city’s emergency medical director, confirmed that the injuries he sustained were fatal and that resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The hotel management called authorities after a loud noise was heard, leading to the discovery of Payne’s body in an inner courtyard.

Liam had traveled to Argentina to support his friend and former bandmate Niall Horan, who was performing there. Cassidy’s social media shared no signs of any conflict between the couple prior to her leaving the country.
