Shah Rukh Khan recently opened up about why he chooses to make grand films, sharing that he dedicates these projects to his late parents. Speaking on the Locarno Meets podcast during his appearance at the Locarno Film Festival, the Dunki star revealed that his passion for “big films” stems from a desire to honor his parents, whom he lost at a young age.
Reflecting on his journey, Shah Rukh shared, “Both my parents had passed away before I started my film career. I always felt drawn to make larger-than-life movies so they could watch them from above.” He went on to express a childhood belief that his mother had become a star after her passing and that he knows which “star” she is, adding, “I feel that if I made Devdas, she’d truly love it and appreciate it.”
With a filmography rich in unforgettable hits—from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Devdas to recent blockbusters like Jawan and Pathaan—Shah Rukh continues to captivate audiences worldwide. He is also reportedly set to work with his daughter, Suhana Khan, on Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming project, King.
