Pakistan’s Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir Strengthens Ties with Saudi Arabia in Official Visit
During an official visit to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh. The warm reception at the Royal Palace reflected the longstanding bond between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The discussions, coordinated by Pakistan’s military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), focused on advancing regional peace, enhancing defense cooperation, and solidifying bilateral relations between the two nations.
During the meeting, General Munir expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his unwavering support of Pakistan. He also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s critical role in maintaining stability across the region, thanking the crown prince for Saudi Arabia’s consistent diplomatic and economic backing. Both leaders emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to address mutual security concerns and bolster regional stability.
In addition to his meeting with the crown prince, General Munir held talks with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid Bin Salman, where both agreed to further strengthen defense and security cooperation. They reiterated their commitment to joint efforts in combating regional security threats and ensuring stability, noting that a secure Middle East benefits both countries’ interests.
The army chief’s visit also included discussions with senior Saudi military officials, including Engineer Talal Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Assistant Minister of Defence; Air Chief Marshal Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al Ruwaili, Chief of General Staff of Royal Saudi Armed Forces; and Lieutenant General Fahad bin Saud Al-Johani, Chief of Royal Saudi Land Forces. These talks underscored the depth of military collaboration and the strong strategic relationship shared by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
This diplomatic and military engagement follows recent high-level discussions led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which resulted in expanded bilateral cooperation, including $2.8 billion in strategic collaborations. Additionally, last month, a Saudi investment delegation visited Pakistan, signing 27 agreements worth $2.2 billion, highlighting the growing economic ties between the two nations. The army chief’s visit further consolidates Pakistan’s strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia, positioning both countries to work closely on issues of security, trade, and investment.
As these engagements unfold, the friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continues to grow, benefiting both nations through enhanced security cooperation, economic partnerships, and shared strategic goals in the region.
