RAWALPINDI, November 2024 – In a recent address to Karachi’s business community, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir delivered a powerful and resolute message, emphasizing the importance of national unity and prioritizing the interests of Pakistan above all else, including personal and political gains.

“Pakistan First,” was the clear message from the COAS as he spoke about the state’s role, likening it to a mother whose value should be understood through the experiences of nations like Libya, Iraq, and Palestine. “We have no identity apart from Pakistan,” he reiterated, stressing that the nation’s unity and prosperity should be at the forefront of every Pakistani’s mind.

The COAS voiced his complete faith in Pakistan’s future, declaring that despite challenges, no one can harm the country if its people stand together. General Munir highlighted the importance of economic stability and called on the business community to invest in Pakistan to help the nation prosper. “Bring your investments to Pakistan so that the people earn, and the nation becomes prosperous,” he urged.

Economic Optimism and Hopeful Outlook for Pakistan’s Future

Reflecting on the economic situation, General Munir shared a positive outlook. He spoke of the clouds of hopelessness that loomed over Pakistan a year ago, saying that they have now dissipated. With optimism in his voice, he assured the audience that Pakistan’s economy is on the right track, and by next year, the economy will show even greater improvement. He also called for accountability for those who spread disappointment and fear about Pakistan’s future, questioning, “Where are the people now who spread disappointment and talked about default?”

The COAS also discussed the challenges of terrorism, pointing out that it is often linked to illegal businesses and external elements. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s digital security is a priority for the state, underlining the importance of protecting the country’s digital borders.

IDEAS 2024: A Global Defense Showcase

The International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2024), held at the Karachi Expo Centre, also witnessed the COAS’s active participation, where he lauded the active involvement of defense manufacturers from both domestic and friendly nations. With 557 exhibitors, including 333 international exhibitors and 224 domestic exhibitors, this year’s IDEAS event reflects Pakistan’s growing confidence in its defense industry.

A key highlight of the exhibition was the Shahpar-III, a cutting-edge combat UAV developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS). The UAV boasts advanced capabilities, including an operational ceiling of 35,000 feet and an endurance of over 24 hours, capable of carrying a range of munitions, including bombs and missiles.

The 12th Edition of IDEAS 2024 is running from 19th to 22nd November, bringing together military officials and defense delegates from around the world to showcase Pakistan’s defense advancements.
