In a dramatic turn of events, Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have reportedly fled Islamabad amid an ongoing police crackdown on PTI protesters. The operation, which began late Tuesday near Islamabad’s Blue Area, has left party supporters and family members concerned about their safety.
Unverified reports suggest that Bushra Bibi and Gandapur have reached Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram assured that the two are safe, he did not disclose his sources. Close aides of Gandapur confirmed his arrival in KP, but reports about Bushra Bibi remain unofficial, adding to the uncertainty.
Family Concerns for Bushra Bibi’s Safety
Maryam Riaz Watto, Bushra Bibi’s sister, shared a heartfelt video message expressing fears for her sibling’s safety. Maryam alleged that Bushra might have been kidnapped, as the family had not heard from her since the crackdown began.
“If Bushra Bibi had reached KP, she would have contacted us,” Maryam stated, highlighting the anxiety and confusion caused by conflicting reports of her arrest and supposed escape.
Government’s Efforts to Apprehend PTI Leaders
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that efforts are underway to detain Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur. Without revealing operational details, he emphasized that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure their arrest.

In response to the late-night operation, PTI announced the cancellation of its planned protest in Islamabad. A party spokesperson accused law enforcement of targeting peaceful protesters, leaving many injured.
Peaceful protesters were showered with bullets on the streets of Islamabad, leaving hundreds of unarmed Pakistanis injured and drenched in blood,” the spokesperson stated.
PTI’s leadership plans to announce its next steps following a meeting with the party chairman and core committee.
