Mahira Khan Speaks About Shah Rukh Khan, Karachi, and Moving Forward

Mahira Khan, one of Pakistan’s most beloved actresses, has always captured hearts with her remarkable talent and grace. From her groundbreaking roles in Pakistani dramas to her Bollywood debut in Raees opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Mahira has made a significant mark in the entertainment industry. However, during her recent appearance at the Aalami Urdu Conference 2024, the actress opened up about why she no longer enjoys discussing her time working with Shah Rukh Khan.

Why Mahira Prefers to Move Past Raees Discussions

At the event, hosted by Waseem Badami and Tabish Hashmi, Mahira candidly expressed her discomfort with the constant questions about Shah Rukh Khan and her experience in Bollywood.

“I can never have enough of him, but when someone asks a question about him, I do reply. Then people say I’m obsessed with him, which is not the case. That’s why I hope people avoid asking me about him,” Mahira shared.

Despite the undeniable on-screen chemistry between the two stars and the widespread acclaim for Raees (2017), Mahira emphasized her desire to shift the conversation toward her current and future projects.

Mahira’s Upcoming Projects

The actress has a packed schedule, with several exciting projects in the pipeline. She is currently filming the much-anticipated Netflix original, Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo and has recently completed work on a film with Humayun Saeed, a collaboration that has fans eagerly awaiting its release. These projects highlight Mahira’s focus on evolving her craft and exploring new creative avenues.

Mahira’s Connection to Karachi

“Karachi doesn’t judge where a person comes from,” Mahira said, reflecting on how the city’s unique environment shaped her perspective and upbringing.

She also shared nostalgic memories of her childhood, from exploring Zainab Market to indulging in the city’s iconic street food like gol gappay and bun kebabs. “Even today when I have bun kebab, it’s nostalgic. I am somehow taken back to my childhood,” she added.

Looking Ahead

While Mahira Khan holds fond memories of her work with Shah Rukh Khan, she hopes to shift the public narrative toward her future endeavors. Her passion for her craft, combined with her connection to her roots, continues to inspire fans across the globe.
