Special Train Service by Pakistan Railways for Benazir Bhutto’s 17th Death Anniversary

Pakistan Railways has announced a special train service to facilitate those who wish to attend the 17th death anniversary of the late former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. The event, which commemorates her life and legacy, will take place at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto, Larkana.

According to an official notification issued by Pakistan Railways, the special train will depart from Lahore at 1:00 PM on December 26, 2023, and reach Shah Nawaz Bhutto Station at 4:30 AM on December 27. For the return journey, the train will leave Shah Nawaz Bhutto Railway Station at 7:00 PM on December 27 and arrive in Lahore at 9:20 AM the following day.

The Sindh government has also made extensive arrangements for the event. On Monday, it requested the federal government to provide a helicopter for air surveillance during the anniversary. The Sindh Home Department submitted this request to the federal interior ministry to ensure the safety and smooth execution of the gathering.

Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has been overseeing the preparations for the event. Last week, he chaired a meeting as the Karachi Division PPP president to review all arrangements. He shared that a caravan consisting of passenger buses, coaches, and other vehicles will depart from Karachi to Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto on December 25, enabling participants from the city to join the commemoration.

Benazir Bhutto, a prominent and trailblazing leader, was tragically assassinated on December 27, 2007, in Rawalpindi’s Liaqat Bagh following a political rally ahead of the 2008 elections. Every year, her death anniversary draws thousands of people from across the country to pay tribute to her enduring legacy.

To facilitate attendees and ensure a safe and memorable experience, Pakistan Railways and the Sindh government are working tirelessly.
