78 iPhone 16 Pro Confiscated from PIA Crew Members in Smuggling Scandal

In a major crackdown on smuggling, Customs authorities have confiscated 78 high-value mobile phones, including 54 iPhone 16 Pro units, from crew members of a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Dubai to Multan.

The incident came to light after Customs received prior information about the illegal activity. During the routine inspection, five crew members, including senior steward Faisal Pervaiz, air hostesses Nishat and Sadaf, and flight stewards Imran and Khalid Khan, were found in possession of the phones.

Details of the Incident

Customs officials intercepted the PIA crew as they landed in Multan and recovered 24 iPhones from two air hostesses. Acting on information provided by the detained individuals, 54 additional phones were seized from the male crew members who were called back from their hotel for questioning.

The total value of the confiscated devices is estimated in the millions of rupees, highlighting the magnitude of this smuggling attempt.

Current Status

The statements of the suspects have been recorded, and the mobile phones have been confiscated. However, the individuals were allowed to return home after the initial inquiry.

This case underscores the ongoing vigilance of Customs authorities in preventing illegal activities and ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s economy.
