Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, one of Pakistan’s busiest travel hubs, is under fire for its failure to meet international cleanliness standards. Neglect and poor maintenance have tarnished the reputation of the airport, raising concerns among travelers and aviation experts alike.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Officers Association recently addressed these concerns in a letter to top officials, highlighting the following issues:
- Poor Maintenance: Over 100 neglected trees have withered away due to mismanagement, and piles of garbage are accumulating in parking areas despite contractors receiving significant funding for upkeep.
- Unhygienic Conditions: Stains from chewing tobacco and unclean restrooms are common complaints from both domestic and international passengers.
- Stray Dog Problem: Stray dogs have started appearing near passenger zones, creating safety hazards and further deteriorating the airport’s image.
The association has urged immediate action to resolve these issues, emphasizing the importance of adhering to global aviation standards to restore the airport’s reputation.
This situation has frustrated passengers, who demand better facilities and services that reflect Karachi’s status as an international city. Efforts are needed to address these problems comprehensively, ensuring a safer and cleaner experience for all.
