Pakistani actress Hira Mani has found herself at the center of social media criticism after claiming that Kareena Kapoor’s iconic character Geet from Jab We Met was inspired by her. The actress, who has gained fame through dramas like Do Bol, Mere Paas Tum Ho, and Dil Moum Ka Diya, is now facing backlash for what netizens see as an exaggerated statement.

Hira Mani’s Bold Statement
During a recent interview, Hira expressed her deep admiration for Kareena Kapoor and shared that Geet’s character strongly resonates with her real-life personality. She even recounted a conversation with her Khala (maternal aunt) after the film’s release:
“Yes! My Khala called me right after Jab We Met was released and said, ‘This movie is made on your character!’ I remember watching it with my family and feeling the same. I think Imtiaz Ali must have met me—that’s why he wrote it.”
Indian journalist Faridoon Shahryar, who was conducting the interview, remarked that she could have been a part of the film. Hira Mani enthusiastically agreed, reinforcing her belief that the story of Jab We Met aligned perfectly with her personality.
Social Media Erupts with Criticism
As soon as her statement went viral, the internet had a field day reacting to her claim. Many users mocked her for comparing herself to Kareena Kapoor, who delivered one of Bollywood’s most memorable performances as Geet.
🔹 One user sarcastically commented:
“She is a slow-cooked Kareena Kapoor.”
🔹 Another added:
“She tries too hard, but the original is always original.”
🔹 Some critics even compared her to Indian actress Urvashi Rautela, known for making exaggerated claims:
“Hira Mani is Pakistan’s Urvashi Rautela.”
Others dismissed her comments as a publicity stunt, with one saying:
“This is a fabricated story. She knows her Khala never said this.”
🔹 Another pointed out that the journalist strategically steered the conversation to make her say something controversial:
“The anchor knew exactly how to extract content from her—he pushed the right button.”

Despite the ongoing criticism, Hira Mani has remained silent on the matter. However, one thing is clear—her words have once again sparked a social media frenzy. Whether it was a joke, a misunderstood remark, or a self-confidence boost, Hira’s statement has undeniably kept her in the headlines.
