Hamza Ali Abbasi Speaks About Officiating Nikkah For His Friends – Faith Meets Responsibility

Hamza Ali Abbasi, known for his versatile acting and thought-provoking public views, has once again sparked a meaningful conversation—this time, about his role in officiating a Nikkah ceremony for a close friend. The actor, who has been on a deeply personal journey of understanding Islam, recently took part in solemnizing a Nikkah, and the video quickly made rounds on social media.

In a candid interview with Ahmad Fozan, Hamza opened up about what inspired him to take on this sacred responsibility. He emphasized that performing a Nikkah or even leading a funeral prayer (janaza) is not something exclusive to religious scholars—it’s something every Muslim should know how to do. However, Hamza made sure a religious scholar was present to oversee the ceremony to ensure everything was conducted correctly.

“It’s a basic Islamic responsibility. Any Muslim can learn it. We just need the right intention and understanding,” said Hamza.

On Religion and Criticism

Despite his devotion, Hamza often faces criticism for speaking about religion while continuing his career as an actor. Addressing this, he said he strictly works within moral boundaries and follows the Ghamdi school of thought. Hamza admitted that before his spiritual transformation in 2017, he made choices that didn’t align with his current values. However, post-transformation, he’s committed to ethical work and personal accountability.

He clarified that he never speaks from his own understanding alone. Instead, he shares the knowledge he has gained from credible scholars and through a structured study of the Quran.

“If I spoke based on my own interpretations, it would be wrong. But I’m only sharing what I’ve learned from scholars and Islamic teachings,” Hamza explained.

His message is simple yet powerful: every Muslim has the right to speak about their religion, regardless of their profession.

A Role Model For Modern Faith

Hamza’s journey serves as an example of how faith and modern life can coexist. Whether he’s on-screen or solemnizing a Nikkah, he brings a sense of sincerity that resonates with many. He is proof that an actor can still walk a path of faith and inspire others by action, not just words.
