Two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is once again turning the lens toward real, impactful change with the launch of Frame It Forward, a new storytelling initiative by SOC Films. This campaign is designed to spotlight the crucial work being done by nonprofits and grassroots organizations across Pakistan—many of whom operate tirelessly without the recognition they truly deserve.

Elevating Voices Through Storytelling

At the heart of Frame It Forward lies a powerful belief: every story matters, especially those driving change at the community level. This initiative will provide one selected nonprofit organization the chance to have a professionally produced short film made—completely free of cost. This film will serve as a compelling narrative of their mission and real-world impact.

From education and climate change to gender equality, refugee support, children’s rights, wildlife protection, and community health, Frame It Forward invites applications from every corner of Pakistan. This isn’t just filmmaking—it’s advocacy through art, with the intent to inspire, connect, and uplift.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Vision for Social Change

“Too often, vital work being done in the heart of our communities goes unseen simply because it isn’t being told,” Sharmeen said while announcing the campaign. “Frame It Forward is our commitment to community—using the power of film to help elevate voices that deserve to be heard.”

SOC Films has a strong history of creating powerful, no-cost documentary content for organizations such as ChildLife Foundation, Indus Hospital, and KDSP. With this new campaign, they are scaling their efforts and opening the doors to even more nonprofits with incredible stories waiting to be told.

How to Apply for Frame It Forward

Nonprofits and community initiatives are encouraged to apply through an open call. The deadline for applications is July 25, 2025. One chosen organization will work closely with the SOC Films team to conceptualize, shoot, and produce their story in a short film format.

The completed film will be publicly released on August 14, 2025, aligning with Pakistan’s Independence Day—a symbolic reminder of the spirit of unity, resilience, and progress that defines the nation.

A Platform for the Unheard

By launching Frame It Forward, SOC Films is reinforcing its commitment to socially conscious storytelling. For many nonprofits with limited resources, creating visual content that resonates and reaches the masses is a challenge. This campaign fills that gap—bringing attention to their work in a powerful, cinematic way.

Whether it’s a small village clinic, a climate action initiative, or a school in a remote district, Frame It Forward exists to make sure their impact is seen, shared, and celebrated.
