Pakistan’s government always looks for ways to help young people succeed. Recently, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared big news. He plans to give away 100,000 free laptops to smart students all over the country. This happens on merit, which means only those who deserve it get one.
The announcement came during an event for International Youth Day in Islamabad. Everyone cheered because this scheme opens doors for better learning.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made it clear. These laptops go to students in all four provinces. That includes Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. Even areas like Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir join in.
No favoritism here. The team picks winners based on true talent and hard work. This keeps things fair for everyone.
This new giveaway stands apart from another plan. That one offers laptops through loans with interest. So, these 100,000 are completely free.
The Prime Minister talked about a recent win for Pakistan. He mentioned Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. Our forces beat a strong enemy on May 10. This victory brings fresh energy to the nation.
He encouraged young people to use this spirit. Work hard, he said. Bring more success to Pakistan in studies and beyond.
Rana Mashhood, who leads the Prime Minister Youth Program, spoke first. He praised government efforts. These programs help talented kids from all backgrounds thrive.
He listed some key projects. The Pakistan Education Endowment scheme gives money for school. The Pakistan Daanish Authority builds good schools. And the PM Laptop Scheme keeps helping thousands finish their education.
A minister named Kesoo Mal Khael Das also shared thoughts. He handles religious affairs and harmony between faiths. He said minority groups in Pakistan always help the country grow.
They will keep doing their part, he added. This shows the scheme welcomes everyone, no matter their background.
Meet Waqas Arain. Back in 2014, he studied mass communication at the University of Sindh. He got a free laptop under the old scheme started by Nawaz Sharif.
Students needed a GPA over 3.0 to qualify. Waqas applied online through a special website. After six or seven months, he received a Haier laptop. It came with an internet device and adapter.
In his class, 10 students met the rules and got laptops. The next year, younger students benefited too.
This laptop changed things for Waqas. It helped with schoolwork. Back then, internet was rare. The device made research easy and fun.
The scheme began in 2014 under the PML-N government. Since then, it has grown big. Rana Mashhood shared numbers. So far, teams have given out about 600,000 laptops on merit.
Boys received 334,556 of them. Girls got 265,444. This shows the program supports both equally.
Just in 2024, 100,000 laptops went out. Females took 58,000, and males got 42,000.
The scheme reaches every corner. Punjab leads with 247,389 students helped. Sindh follows with 107,034.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has 76,094 beneficiaries. Balochistan counts 30,513.
Even smaller areas benefit. The federal capital has 112,270. Former FATA region got 9,290. Azad Jammu and Kashmir received 14,312.
These numbers prove the scheme touches lives everywhere.
Laptops do more than just sit on desks. They connect students to the world. With internet, kids learn new things fast.
In tough times, like when internet was hard to get, these devices made a difference. Now, with the 2025 scheme reopening, more students can apply.
The process stays simple. Check eligibility, apply online, and wait for merit-based selection.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants youth to lead. This laptop giveaway builds on past wins. It pushes students to aim high.
Other leaders, like CM Maryam Nawaz, add to this. She announced an education city in Lahore. Together, these efforts make Pakistan stronger.
Young people, grab this chance. Apply, study hard, and shine for your country. The PM Laptop Scheme waits to help you succeed.
