THERE IS GROWING SPECULATION ABOUT POSSIBLE CHANGES TO PAKISTAN’S CRICKET CAPTAINCY.

The argument over who should lead Pakistan’s red and white-ball cricket teams as captain has heated up. Senior PCB officials, including head coaches of the white and red teams, Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, heads of high-performance centres, senior players, board members, and international and domestic directors, are expected to attend a crucial meeting chaired by Mohsin Naqvi.
This meeting is a component of the most recent coaching and leadership evaluation.
Jason Gillespie departed for Australia following the historic Test series defeat against Bangladesh, while Gary Kirsten had went home after sending a thorough report to the PCB in July.
According to sources, the coaches of the red and white balls will meet separately to discuss their different formats. One of the main agenda items is expected to be the possibility of switching up the captains of the longer and shorter versions.
Much conjecture surrounds a possible switch in white ball captaincy, with wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan emerging as a formidable contender.
Shan Masood, the captain of the Test team, will also be reviewed.
The rumour that Babar Azam’s captaincy may be reevaluated has been stoked by the PCB’s recent decision to ignore him for the Champions One Day Cup.
Given that Pakistan is set to tour Australia in November, it is quite likely that new captains will be appointed for both the One Day International and Twenty20 formats. Significant changes are anticipated in advance of the tour.
However, there are rumours that Rizwan might be given consideration for captaincy in all formats down the road if he is named the white ball captain against Australia.
