CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Launches Bus Transport Projects for Girls Colleges

Maryam Nawaz Launches Chief Minister Transport Programme for Women in Punjab

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has officially introduced the Chief Minister Transport Programme for Women, a pivotal initiative designed to enhance transportation options for female students in the province. As part of this program, 76 buses have been delivered to girls’ colleges, addressing the transportation challenges faced by young women pursuing their education.

Under this initiative, 19 buses were distributed to college principals in various tehsils that have historically lacked adequate transport facilities. Areas such as Bhakkar, Sialkot, and Hasilpur have particularly struggled with limited transportation options for students. This initial phase reflects the government’s dedication to promoting women’s education by ensuring they have safe and reliable means to travel to their schools.

During the launch, the Chief Minister announced plans for further expansion of the initiative in the coming months, with two additional phases set to roll out. By April 2025, more buses will be allocated to additional colleges, further enhancing access to education for female students throughout the province.

At the launch event, CM Maryam Nawaz also took the opportunity to inspect the newly delivered buses and expressed interest in including air-conditioned vehicles in the fleet to improve students’ comfort during their commutes.

In addition to the transport program, CM Maryam Nawaz addressed other significant topics in a meeting with the ambassador of Portugal. She urged authorities to redesign incentive packages aimed at attracting foreign investment, highlighting her broader vision for economic growth and development in the region.

Overall, the Chief Minister Transport Programme for Women represents a vital step toward empowering female students in Punjab, equipping them with the resources they need to pursue their education and contribute positively to society.
