Mishi Khan blasts Dr Zakir Naik for derogatory remarks on women, PIA

Actress Mishi Khan has voiced her strong discontent over the controversial comments made by Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik during his recent trip to Pakistan. In an emotional Instagram video, Mishi condemned Naik’s disparaging remarks about the national airline, questioning the appropriateness of his criticisms while enjoying the hospitality of the state.

In her video, Mishi highlighted the irony of Naik being treated as a state guest despite his derogatory statements. “Zakir Naik, who was hosted as a state guest, has now returned home. Much like Javed Akhtar, who spoke ill of Pakistan after his visit to India, Naik is belittling our national airline,” she remarked.

Mishi didn’t hold back in addressing Naik’s remarks regarding his luggage allowance, sarcastically asking, “What were you bringing that weighed a thousand kilograms? If your allowance was 500 kilograms, does being a state guest mean you should exploit the situation and carry everything for free?” Her critique aimed to underscore the absurdity of Naik’s entitlement.

The actress expressed her dismay over Naik’s comments on women, stating, “I am deeply saddened that you choose to use such language about women. Instead of this, you should guide men. Fear God and choose your words more wisely.” Mishi emphasized the need for more respectful discourse, especially regarding sensitive topics.

Furthermore, she urged the government to rethink its guest list for state visitors, questioning, “Why invite individuals like Zakir Naik and Javed Akhtar, who benefit from Pakistan’s hospitality only to criticize it later? If India is so wonderful, perhaps they should just stay there. Do we not deserve to maintain our self-respect?” Her remarks reflect a broader frustration with the lack of dignity afforded to Pakistan by its guests.

Dr. Zakir Naik’s controversial remarks about unmarried women have ignited widespread backlash among Pakistani citizens, including many prominent celebrities. During his visit, Naik stated, “There is no way an unmarried woman can be respected. They have two options: either marry a man who already has a wife or become a ‘bazaari aurat’—public property. I can’t think of a better term. Any respectable woman would choose the first option.” This statement has drawn ire, prompting many to call for a more inclusive and nuanced interpretation of Islam.

In light of this, numerous celebrities have taken to social media, advocating for respectful and constructive discussions on such topics, highlighting the need for a deeper understanding and tolerance.
