A Tribute to Cricket Legends: Afridi and Younis Khan Honored at National Stadium Karachi

In a heartwarming tribute to the legends of Pakistan cricket, Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan have been immortalized at the National Stadium Karachi (NSK) as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) names enclosures after these iconic players. The stadium is buzzing with transformation as it gears up to host the much-anticipated Champions Trophy 2025, a premier international cricketing event.

New Enclosures Named After Cricket Legends
As part of the renovations, the Majid Khan Enclosure will now be renamed as the Younis Khan Enclosure, while the Quaid Enclosure will carry the name of Shahid Afridi. The legacy of these cricketing giants is further celebrated with the creation of two VVIP enclosures in a newly constructed building, offering top-tier seating for 1,050 fans.

Adding to the homage, the Zaheer Abbas Enclosure will honor Nazar Mohammad, reinforcing PCB’s dedication to recognizing the contributions of Pakistan’s cricket greats.

Revamped Facilities for Champions Trophy 2025
The National Stadium is witnessing an incredible transformation. Significant progress has been made in the construction of the far-end building, which features three completed floors, with work underway on the top floor. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is also nearing completion, with final touches being applied.

The much-awaited Champions Trophy 2025 will feature eight teams competing in 15 matches across Pakistan and Dubai. Pakistan will host matches in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, while Dubai will be the stage for high-octane clashes, including the thrilling face-off between arch-rivals Pakistan and India on February 23.

Gaddafi Stadium: A World-Class Arena
Meanwhile, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore has undergone a stunning five-month renovation, setting new standards in infrastructure and aesthetics. From upgraded floodlights to digital screens and premium seating, the stadium now offers a state-of-the-art experience for fans, players, and officials alike.

This massive effort, led by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, ensures that Pakistan’s cricket venues will rival iconic stadiums worldwide, ready to welcome fans for an unforgettable cricketing spectacle.

Mark your calendars for February 19, 2025, when Pakistan faces New Zealand in the opening match of the Champions Trophy.
