When did you get married and how old were the two of you?
Hasnat: We got married in December 2004. I was 29 and Shazia was 26.
Was your marriage an arranged one or not?
Shazia: We were in love long before we got married.
How and where did you meet?
Shazia: We used to work together in a bank. It was love at first sight for Hasnat.
What made you two decide that you were perfect for each other?
Hasnat: That is never really the case. You know that you love each other very much and marriage is what you want but we both feel that it actually takes a few years of marriage till you can answer that question and know that you really are perfect for each other. Luckily we know now.
One thing you remember about your wedding day?
Shazia: In retrospect, I think we looked much plainer than if we had gotten married in this time and age.
One thing you wish you could have added to the ceremony:
Shazia: A lot more of glamour and drama.
What was the wedding night gift for the bride?
Hasnat: A wedding ring with a diamond solitaire.
Where did you have your honeymoon? Who decided on the place and why?
Shazia: We went to Malaysia and dropped Thailand which was part of the plan. December is time of the year that one needs to go to a tropical area to relax.West is too cold!
What was the one perfect moment of your honeymoon?
Shazia: Every single moment of the honeymoon was perfect! There were candlelit dinners and there was holding of hands and yes a lot of shopping!
Any fun activity that the two of you enjoyed on your honeymoon?
Hasnat: We did bungee jumping!
What was the most shocking thing about him which you discovered on the honeymoon?
Shazia: We had known each other for a long time before we got married so shocks were dealt with earlier.
The one thing you would change if you had the chance about your honeymoon?
Shazia: I would not change a thing. It was perfect and beautiful.
Who gives in first when you fight?
Hasnat: I always do because I do not make an ego issue out of everything.
What is your song?
Hasnat: “Like the deserts miss the rain.”
The first movie you saw as a couple? How did you like it?
Hasnat: DDLJ and we thought it was amazing.
The one relative or friend of your spouse whose company you enjoy the most, and why?
Shazia: Hasnat’s sister. She is like my own.
Favourite activity as a couple now? What do you enjoy spending your time doing as a family?
Shazia: We simply love traveling.
Which was the best time of your life? Before marriage, the honeymoon, now, or still waiting?
Shazia: Was, is, and always will be. The past was beautiful, the present is perfect and we hope for the bliss to last for the rest of our lives!
Any special memories incidents you would like to share?
Hasnat: Life itself is a memory. We make it as we live it, so make every moment count and make every moment as perfect as you can because this moment will not come again.
