Anna Delvey is claiming co-host Whoopi Goldberg of ABC’s The View misrepresented an important aspect of her case, and she is demanding an apology. Talk show panellists chastised Delvey and their own network on Thursday for allowing the convicted scammer—who tricked companies and people out of over $250,000 by posing as an heiress—to appear on Dancing With the Stars, a reality competition show. Goldberg said during the criticism, “She still owes people money.” Why she gets to stay [in the US] is beyond me.

In a statement sent to Page Six on Friday, Delvey addressed the hosts, stating:

“You have the right to your own ideas, but at the very least, please correct the record. Three years ago or more, I completed my time and paid everyone back in full. I’m eager to hear your on-air correction. Ladies, be nasty, but remember to cast your ballot on September 17!

As originally reported by Page Six, Delvey has been granted special permission by a judge to go to Los Angeles for the competition. Delvey was released from jail in February 2021, but she is still under house arrest by ICE while she awaits her immigration status.

In addition, she had received authorisation to work in the US and her Social Security Number.

She will have an ankle monitor on when she performs with professional dancer Ezra Sosa.

Delvey allegedly used the money she made from her Netflix series Inventing Anna to pay back a large portion of the money she embezzled.
