Former Pakistan cricketer and chief selector Wahab Riaz recently recounted an intriguing anecdote involving legendary fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif.

During an appearance on a comedy show on a private news channel, Wahab shared the story, which left his fellow cricketers astonished.

He reminisced about a team dinner in New Zealand, where the players had gathered in Shoaib Akhtar’s room. As they enjoyed their meal, Katrina Kaif’s hit song Sheila Ki Jawani played on the television.

In a casual moment, Shoaib claimed that he knew Katrina Kaif and had a friendship with the Bollywood star. This revelation shocked the players, particularly Mohammad Hafeez, who looked visibly surprised.

Wahab noted that none of the teammates believed Shoaib’s assertion, and some even questioned the authenticity of his story. Frustrated by their skepticism, the strong-willed Shoaib asked the players to leave his room, declaring, “You all think I’m lying.” Eventually, the players had to finish their meal at a restaurant after being kicked out by Shoaib.

Wahab also pointed out Shoaib’s long-standing ties to Bollywood, highlighting his stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. Shoaib is often associated with Bollywood heavyweights Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, lending some credibility to his claims about knowing Katrina Kaif.

The story, shared in a light-hearted manner, provided viewers with a glimpse into the humorous moments that occur within the national cricket team’s dressing room, illustrating that even seasoned players like Shoaib Akhtar can surprise their teammates.
