First-ever Sleep Messaging Brings Sci-fi To Life

Researchers at REMspace, a California-based startup, have achieved a major breakthrough by enabling communication between two people within lucid dreams—a state in which dreamers are aware they are dreaming. Using custom equipment and a unique language called “Remmyo,” participants successfully exchanged messages while asleep.

The experiment, conducted on September 24, involved two volunteers in separate locations entering lucid dreams, with their brain activity tracked remotely. One participant received a randomly chosen word through earbuds and repeated it in the dream. Eight minutes later, the second participant entered a lucid dream, received the message, and confirmed it upon waking. This successful “dream chat” represents the first documented exchange through lucid dreams.

Michael Raduga, CEO and founder of REMspace, emphasized the significance of this breakthrough, noting that what once felt like science fiction could soon be part of daily life. “We believe real-time communication through dreams will transform how we think about connecting and interacting,” Raduga stated, foreseeing a future where dream communication could rival AI in its impact.
