PIA Cuts International Airfares with FED Waiver

Exciting News for Travelers: PIA Announces Major International Fare Reductions

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a significant reduction in international airfares following the Federal Excise Duty (FED) waiver approved by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This initiative, requested by the Pakistani government, exclusively applies to international flights and is set to offer considerable savings for passengers traveling abroad.

According to a state-run news agency, APP, the waiver brings substantial relief for travelers:

  • USA: Passengers can save up to Rs350,000.
  • Africa & the Middle East: Fare reductions of up to Rs105,000.
  • Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the Far East: Travelers may benefit from savings of up to Rs210,000.

While international travel has seen a welcome drop in ticket prices, domestic flights remain subject to FED, as the waiver does not extend to local air travel. This move partially mitigates the additional Rs56 billion FED imposed on air travel in the 2024 federal budget, making international trips more affordable for many Pakistanis.

Paris Flights Resume in January 2025

In another exciting development, PIA has finalized its schedule to resume flights to Paris, starting January 10, 2025. The national carrier will operate two flights a week from Islamabad to Paris, on Fridays and Sundays.

  • Outbound flights: Depart Islamabad at 11:30 AM, landing in Paris at 4:00 PM.
  • Return flights: Depart Paris at 6:00 PM, arriving in Islamabad by 5:00 AM.

The schedule is designed with passenger convenience in mind, ensuring seamless travel for those heading to or returning from Europe.

These changes highlight PIA’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and affordability for international travelers. Whether you’re planning a dream vacation or an essential work trip, now is the time to explore the world with PIA’s reduced fares and expanded routes.
