The picturesque Neelam Valley in Azad Jammu Kashmir has become a winter wonderland, drawing a heavy influx of tourists from all over Pakistan. With its snow-covered peaks and pristine landscapes, the valley offers a magical retreat for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

After an extended dry spell of over three months, the valley has been graced with its third spell of significant snowfall, blanketing the region in a serene layer of white. Popular tourist spots throughout Neelam Valley transformed into playgrounds, as visitors indulged in snowball fights, built snowmen, and captured unforgettable moments amidst the mesmerizing scenery.

Subordinate Graze Valley, a lesser-known gem, experienced intermittent snowfall, restricting access from central areas but adding to its untouched allure. According to the State Disaster Management Authority (AJKSDMA), the snowfall varies across the region, ranging from light showers to heavy blankets at higher altitudes.

However, the beauty of winter in Neelam Valley comes with its challenges. The AJKSDMA has issued safety advisories for residents and tourists, urging caution while navigating the region. Avalanche warnings have been announced, with high-risk zones identified across the area. People are advised to stay updated on weather reports and avoid venturing into risky zones to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, the forecast indicates continued snowfall and light to moderate rain in many areas on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC). Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) is also bracing for heavy snowfall in its upper districts, including Kupwara, Baramulla, and Anantnag.
