Karachi: Cricket fever is about to soar to new heights—literally! As the city gears up for the grand opening of the International Cricket Conference (ICC) Champions Trophy 2025, spectators are in for an unforgettable visual spectacle. The Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) elite Sherdil Squadron is set to showcase its breathtaking aerobatic skills during the ceremony on February 19, just before the much-anticipated Pakistan vs. New Zealand match in Karachi.

A Five-Year Wait Ends with a Grand Comeback!
After a long gap of five years, the Sherdil Squadron will once again grace Karachi’s skies with a thrilling aerobatic display, promising a spectacular show for fans attending the event and those watching live broadcasts. This high-energy performance will include precision maneuvers, dazzling formations, and signature moves such as:
✅ Barrel Rolls – Smooth spins showcasing expert control
✅ Loops – Graceful circular maneuvers in the air
✅ Bomb Bursts – A jaw-dropping split maneuver, leaving behind trails of colorful smoke
Alongside the Karakoram-8 (K-8) aircraft, the show will feature Pakistan’s iconic fighter jets, including the JF-17 Thunder and the legendary F-16, adding power and prestige to the aerial display.
Sherdil Squadron: A Legacy of Excellence
Formed in 1974, the Sherdil Squadron has earned a reputation for delivering jaw-dropping aerobatic performances worldwide. Their stunning displays have captivated audiences at international air shows in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other global events.
One of their most notable moments came in 2020, when the squadron performed a spectacular air show over Sea View Beach, Karachi, marking the first anniversary of Pakistan’s successful downing of an Indian jet.

Karakoram-8: The Star of the Show
The Karakoram-8 (K-8), the primary aircraft used by Sherdil Squadron, is a Pakistan-made advanced trainer jet used to prepare new pilots at the PAF Academy, Risalpur. This aircraft is designed for both training and combat purposes, with the capability to carry weapons on four hardpoints and a ballistic gun pod.
