England Set to Host Kabaddi World Cup 2025 for the First Time – A Historic Moment for the Sport

Sixteen Teams, Including Pakistan and India, to Compete in a Week-Long Tournament Starting March 17

Kabaddi fans worldwide have a reason to celebrate as England prepares to host the 2025 Men’s and Women’s Kabaddi World Cup for the first time in history. This prestigious tournament, which has always been held in Asia, will now take place in the West Midlands region of England from March 17 to March 23, 2025.

With 16 international teams participating, this edition promises to be an exciting and competitive event, featuring the best kabaddi talent from across the globe. The competition will unfold in four key cities: Birmingham, Walsall, Coventry, and Wolverhampton, bringing the sport to a wider audience.

Kabaddi World Cup 2025: Group Stage Details

The Men’s tournament is divided into four groups:

  • Group A: England, Malaysia, Poland, Cameroon
  • Group B: Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Scotland, Egypt
  • Group C: India, China, USA, Tanzania
  • Group D: Pakistan, Taiwan, Italy, Kenya

The Women’s tournament features two groups:

  • Group A: England, Hong Kong, Poland, Tanzania
  • Group B: India, Egypt, Scotland, Kenya

Match Schedule and Key Fixtures

The Kabaddi World Cup 2025 will kick off with an exciting opening match between hosts England and Cameroon on March 17. A grand opening ceremony is also planned before the first game.

For Pakistan fans, the excitement begins on March 18 as the men’s team plays its first match against Kenya. The team will then face Italy on March 19 at Coventry Arena, followed by the final group-stage match on March 20 in Birmingham.

The quarterfinals for men’s teams will take place on March 21, while women’s group-stage matches will also conclude the same day at Wolverhampton University’s Walsall Campus. The semi-finals for both men’s and women’s categories are scheduled for March 22 in Wolverhampton.

The grand final matches for both men and women, as well as third-place matches, will be played on March 23, making it a thrilling end to the tournament.

UK Government Support and Commonwealth Games Legacy

The UK Government’s Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund has provided £500,000 to support the Kabaddi World Cup 2025. This funding aims to promote cultural diversity and sports development in the region while enhancing the West Midlands’ reputation as a hub for major global sporting events.

The support from the City of Wolverhampton Council and World Kabaddi ensures that the tournament will be a spectacular event, inspiring more people to engage with the sport and further popularizing kabaddi on a global stage.

With over 60 matches scheduled and a lineup of the best kabaddi teams from across Asia, Africa, America, and Europe, this historic event will be a treat for kabaddi lovers worldwide.
