The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) has introduced a strict new policy to curb overspeeding on Pakistan’s motorways. With immediate effect, vehicles exceeding the speed limit of 150 km/h will face a complete ban, heavy fines, and even FIRs against violators.
This new policy aims to enhance road safety, prevent fatal accidents, and enforce discipline among drivers on motorways and highways across Pakistan.
Revised Speed Limits on Motorways
The Motorway Police has officially revised the speed limits for different categories of vehicles:
🚗 For Cars: The speed limit remains 120 km/h on three-lane motorways.
🚌 For Public Transport (Buses, Vans, etc.): The new speed limit is 110 km/h.
This initiative is part of a nationwide crackdown against high-speed vehicles, launched under the directives of IG Motorway Police, Riffat Mukhtar Raja.

📢 From February 1, 2025, all vehicles must have an M-Tag for toll payments.
📢 Vehicles without an M-Tag or with insufficient balance will be charged an additional 25% toll fee.
📢 A minimum surcharge of Rs. 50 will be applied to ensure compliance with the digital toll system.
This move aims to eliminate cash transactions, ensure faster toll collection, and ease congestion at toll plazas.
