Held in the grand setting of the President House, the event was attended by a prestigious audience, including PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, federal ministers, provincial governors and chief ministers, senior military officers, and foreign diplomats. The ceremony served as both a symbolic and formal acknowledgment of General Munir’s extraordinary service to the nation.

PM Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the gathering, stated, “Today is a proud and historic day. We are here to honor a hero whose leadership and bravery have safeguarded Pakistan’s sovereignty.”

The promotion of General Munir to the rank of Field Marshal was a result of a unanimous federal cabinet decision, based on his exemplary command and success during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos—a significant military achievement that thwarted aggression and ensured peace and stability in the region.

The Prime Minister highlighted that this operation was a “historic victory under the field marshal’s leadership,” and praised the seamless coordination between military and political leadership during this critical time.
