Sarah Khan anti-feminism remark. Pakistani actress Sarah Khan has responded to the controversy surrounding her earlier statement about feminism. The ‘Sher’ star says she was misunderstood and explains what she truly meant.
A few weeks ago, Sarah Khan made headlines for saying, “I’m not really a feminist.” The comment sparked backlash online, with many accusing her of being anti-women.
However, in a recent clarification, Sarah said she is not against feminism but disagrees with how it is often portrayed today.
“When I say I’m not a feminist, I don’t mean I don’t believe in equality,” Sarah explained. “I absolutely believe in equal respect, equal rights and equal opportunities for women.”
Sarah Khan shared that she sees herself as the “OG feminist.” In her words, this means a woman who believes in her natural strength without trying to become like men.
“I believe women are powerful enough to be treated like queens. They should be respected, cherished, and valued,” she said.
Sarah also mentioned Hazrat Khadija (RA) as an example a successful businesswoman and a perfect balance of strength and grace.
Sarah said that today’s feminism often asks women to let go of their feminine energy, which she believes is not right.
“Feminism shouldn’t mean abandoning femininity,” she said. “It should mean honouring our choices even if that choice is home, motherhood, softness, and love.”
Her words received praise from many fans who agree that true power lies in embracing your natural self.
While Sarah Khan makes headlines off-screen, she’s also ruling TV screens as Dr. Fajar in the hit drama Sher. The show stars Danish Taimoor and is directed by Aehsun Talish, written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah, and airs on ARY Digital.
