Hayden Panettiere has addressed public concerns following a recent interview with People magazine that led to speculation about her mental health.
In an Instagram post, the Nashville actress clarified the situation, explaining, “I hadn’t slept for two days before the shoot because one of my dogs was recovering from emergency surgery.”
Panettiere also responded to questions about her sobriety and mental health, asserting, “Whether or not I am on medication is no one’s business—it’s between me and my doctor.” She emphasized that her exhaustion played a significant role in her appearance during the interview, which took place after an exhausting eight-hour shoot.
The 35-year-old revealed that her representative had ended the interview early when it became clear she was too fatigued. She stated that People magazine had assured her the piece would be edited with care.
Panettiere expressed frustration over the impact of social media, calling it “toxic,” and accused the media of favoring “clickbait” over thoughtful reporting.
The interview sparked backlash online, with many criticizing People for publishing the video. One social media user described the clip as “uncomfortable and sad,” while Dancing With the Stars alum Peta Murgatroyd called for its removal.
Panettiere’s representative has denied any claims of a relapse, attributing her emotional state to exhaustion and the emotional weight of discussing personal matters.
