The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is still awaiting approval from Karachi authorities for a protest rally scheduled for this Sunday.
The Commissioner of Karachi is currently reviewing recommendations from deputy commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) in the East and South districts, as reported by a local news outlet.
A decision on PTI’s request to hold the rally will be made once input from these officials is received.
PTI-Karachi plans to march from the Karachi Press Club to Mazar-e-Quaid, advocating for the enforcement of the Supreme Court’s ruling on reserved seats.
The party has officially submitted an application to the Commissioner seeking permission for the protest.
In a press conference held on Wednesday, PTI’s Karachi president, Raja Azhar, emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision unequivocally states that the reserved seats belong to the PTI.
Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi administration has completely shut down the city, using containers to block PTI protests at Liaquat Bagh.
Liaquat Bagh has been fully sealed, and Section 144 has been imposed across the city, prohibiting any public gatherings, protests, or the display of weapons.
