COURT REJECTS BAIL PLEA OF ACTOR NAZISH JAHANGIR IN FRAUD CASE

A Lahore session court has revoked the interim bail of actress Nazish Jahangir in a fraud case filed by the Defence C police station.

The court canceled her bail on Friday, citing non-pursuance. The fraud case was initiated by fellow actress Azan Aswad Haroon, who alleged that Jahangir had borrowed Rs 2.5 million and a car for a period of two months. However, neither the money nor the car was returned after the agreed-upon timeline.

While Jahangir’s bail was canceled, the court extended the interim bail of her co-accused, Sikandar, until the first week of October. The case has garnered attention due to the involvement of two notable figures in the entertainment industry, shedding light on the legal challenges faced by celebrities.

In 2020, Nazish Jahangir was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing in Karachi as part of a case involving charges of blackmail, harassment, and the distribution of fake videos and posts. She was taken into custody alongside actor and singer Mohsin Abbas Haider, following a complaint from Haider’s former wife, Fatima Sohail.

Fatima Sohail announced the news on social media, stating that after a lengthy legal battle, both Nazish and Mohsin were found guilty by the FIA of online harassment and circulating fake content. Fatima had previously accused Mohsin Abbas of domestic abuse and claimed he was having an extramarital affair with Nazish Jahangir.

Nazish Jahangir has consistently maintained her innocence throughout the legal proceedings and faced charges related to cyber harassment under Pakistan’s laws.
