A fresh Pakistan heatwave alert has been issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department as extreme temperatures continue to affect several parts of the country until May 31. Authorities have warned citizens to remain careful during the ongoing hot weather spell, especially during the Eid holidays when many people are expected to travel and spend time outdoors.
According to weather officials, temperatures in different regions are likely to remain significantly above normal. The warning comes as many cities across Punjab and other provinces continue to experience intense daytime heat and unusually warm nights.

While most areas remain under severe heat conditions, some parts of Islamabad and the Potohar region received light rainfall. The showers helped lower temperatures for a short time and brought pleasant weather to residents celebrating Eid festivities.
Cool winds after the rain also improved conditions in several areas of the federal capital. However, weather experts believe the relief may only be temporary as high temperatures are expected to return in the coming days.
The heatwave is expected to hit southern Punjab the hardest. Cities including Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Jhang, Sargodha, and Dera Ghazi Khan may witness temperatures reaching close to 50 degrees Celsius.
Officials stated that temperatures in these areas could remain four to seven degrees above seasonal averages. The continuous rise in temperature has also increased concerns regarding dehydration and heat-related illnesses.
Meanwhile, cities in central and upper Punjab such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Sialkot are likely to experience temperatures around 42 degrees Celsius during the ongoing weather spell.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has advised people to take extra precautions during the heatwave. Citizens, especially children, senior citizens, and individuals with medical conditions, are encouraged to avoid direct sunlight between 10 AM and 5 PM.
Authorities also recommended drinking plenty of water and fluids throughout the day to prevent dehydration. People heading outdoors have been advised to wear light clothing, use umbrellas or caps, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak afternoon hours.
Medical experts warn that prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to exhaustion, dizziness, and other serious health complications. Residents are therefore encouraged to stay indoors whenever possible and follow official weather advisories carefully.
As the Pakistan heatwave alert remains in effect, officials continue to monitor the situation closely and urge the public to remain cautious during the coming days.
