Less than a week after it was announced that Kate Middleton’s cancer treatment was over, she resumed her royal duties. According to the Court Circular, the official log of royal family activities, the Princess of Wales met with representatives of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood on Tuesday at Windsor Castle. During their discussion, they talked about her Early Years campaign.
According to the Royal Foundation, the Early Years program focusses on making sure children grow up healthy and happy during their formative years in order to establish a “nurturing world.” The husband of Middleton, Prince William, was reportedly absent from the meeting because he was out visiting soldiers in the special forces. After receiving an update on her battle, the princess returned to her responsibilities.
Middleton said that her chemotherapy treatment was over in a video that included William, 42, and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. She captioned the video, which was uploaded on September 9, saying, “As summer draws to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.” As a family, the past nine months have been extremely difficult. We had to figure out how to go through the rough seas and uncharted territory because life as we know it can change drastically in an instant.
The mother of three called the experience “complex, scary, and unpredictable.” She had disclosed her cancer diagnosis in March. “Even though my chemotherapy is over, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she added.
“But when the time comes, I’m excited to get back to work and do a few more public appearances in the upcoming months.” Shortly after undergoing stomach surgery in January, Middleton received a cancer diagnosis.
