Assassin's Creed Shadows delayed to February 2025 after underperforming Star Wars Outlaws launch

Ubisoft has announced a delay for its upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, “Shadows,” pushing the release from November 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025. This decision is expected to disappoint fans eagerly awaiting the title.

The delay is due to two main reasons. Ubisoft says it needs more time to polish the game to meet its ambitious goals. Additionally, the recent underperformance of “Star Wars Outlaws,” released in August, has caused the company to rethink its release strategy after the game fell short of sales expectations.

With the delay, Ubisoft has announced several changes for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows.” The game will now launch simultaneously on Steam and other platforms, moving away from the company’s recent release patterns. Ubisoft is also shifting from its traditional season pass model, offering the game’s first expansion for free to all pre-order customers.

The company is currently facing financial difficulties following the poor performance of “Star Wars Outlaws.” Ubisoft has lowered its net booking projections for the fiscal year and is reevaluating its development and release strategies.
