Pakistan’s Abdul Majeed Crowned Mr. Universe!
Posted on October 30, 2024 by News Desk
Abdul Majeed, an IT professional-turned-bodybuilder, has achieved an incredible milestone by securing the prestigious Mr. Universe 2024 title at the World Fitness Federation event in Las Vegas. Representing Pakistan on an international platform, Majeed won two gold medals, one in the Open Masters category and another in the Super Extreme category, solidifying his reputation in the bodybuilding world. These victories have not only earned him the Mr. Universe title but also a coveted “Pro Card,” allowing him to compete as a professional bodybuilder.
Majeed’s journey to the pinnacle of bodybuilding did not happen overnight. His passion for fitness began in Karachi, where he trained at Core Karachi Gym and quickly became known for his intense dedication and resilience. In 2014, Majeed won the title of Mr. Karachi, and six years later, he was crowned Mr. Pakistan in 2020. These early victories laid the foundation for his ultimate goal of becoming a global bodybuilding champion. His road to Mr. Universe was paved with tireless training, financial sacrifices, and an unyielding drive to succeed on an international stage.
Striving Against the Odds to Achieve a Lifelong Dream
Preparing for Mr. Universe 2024 was a test of endurance and commitment for Majeed, who trained relentlessly over six months. “Getting a Pro Card is every bodybuilder’s dream,” he shared, emphasizing the personal sacrifices he made to cover the costs of training, travel, and competition. Despite limited financial support, Majeed stayed true to his goal, working multiple jobs and funding his journey on his own. The competition, which saw participants from over 42 countries, took place from October 19-20 and was marked by an impressive level of talent from across the globe. Winning his medals and lifting the Pakistani flag was a dream come true for Majeed, who described the moment as “overwhelming” and deeply emotional.
Support from the World Fitness Federation Pakistan
Now residing in Dubai, Majeed has found support from the World Fitness Federation Pakistan, which helped him gain recognition on an international level. He proudly represented Pakistan alongside two other Pakistani bodybuilders, who also brought home medals from the event. Majeed credits this platform with helping him realize his potential, but he also acknowledges the need for unity within Pakistan’s bodybuilding community.
The Need for Unity in Pakistan’s Bodybuilding Community
Reflecting on bodybuilding in Pakistan, Majeed highlighted the need for a single, unified platform for athletes. “There is immense talent in Pakistan, but without a uniform federation, our athletes face limitations,” he explained. In contrast to other countries where athletes are organized under one governing body, Pakistan’s bodybuilding community is split among various associations, making it challenging to receive cohesive support. Majeed believes that a unified federation would allow for better regulation and provide more resources to up-and-coming athletes.
Giving Back to Pakistan’s Bodybuilding Aspirants
With his recent success and Pro Card status, Majeed is eager to give back to the Pakistani bodybuilding community. He hopes to mentor aspiring bodybuilders, helping them gain international exposure and achieve their dreams. “I want to help other Pakistani bodybuilders reach the professional level,” he said, expressing his commitment to supporting others in their pursuit of excellence.
Abdul Majeed’s journey from Karachi’s local gyms to winning the Mr. Universe title is a testament to his dedication and perseverance. He has not only fulfilled his own dreams but has also set a new standard of excellence for Pakistan’s bodybuilding community. His accomplishments highlight the importance of unity, support, and resilience in achieving one’s goals, and he stands as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the nation.
