Issued by the State Bank of Pakistan on November 22, 2024, the coin reflects Pakistan’s acknowledgment of its rich Sikh heritage.

Crafted with precision and care, the Rs55 coin is a symbol of respect for Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s legacy. Here are its standout features:

  • Composition: 79% brass, 20% zinc, and 1% nickel.
  • Size and Weight: The coin measures 30mm in diameter and weighs 13.5 grams.
  • Obverse Design:
    • A crescent moon and five-pointed star are central to the design, symbolizing Pakistan.
    • The upper edge bears the inscription ‘Islamic Republic of Pakistan’ in Urdu.
    • Two stalks of wheat frame the year 2024 below the crescent.
    • The denomination “55” appears to the right, with the word ‘Rupee’ in Urdu to the left.
  • Reverse Design:
    • Features an image of the memorial to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
    • The words “555th Birthday Celebrations” are inscribed above, while “SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI” is written below the memorial.
    • The years “1469–2024” are engraved at the base.
