Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Offers Interest-Free Loans to Boost Tourism

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) is taking an innovative step to promote tourism while empowering the youth residing in the province’s popular tourist destinations. On the directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the provincial government has announced an interest-free loan scheme for young residents of tourist hotspots, enabling them to construct or renovate rooms for tourists in their homes.

Zahid Chin Zai, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Tourism and Culture, revealed that this initiative, in collaboration with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority and the Bank of Khyber, aims to provide financial support of up to Rs 3 million to eligible applicants. Women entrepreneurs in these areas will also receive special consideration under the program, ensuring inclusivity and gender empowerment.

Key Areas Targeted in the First Phase

The first phase of the loan scheme will focus on renowned tourist destinations, including:

  • Kalam Swat
  • Kumrat Upper Dir
  • Laram Top Lower Dir
  • Upper and Lower Chitral
  • Galyat Abbottabad
  • Kaghan and Mansehra

Young residents of these regions will be able to utilize these interest-free loans for constructing additional rooms or upgrading their homes to meet the needs of visitors.

Boosting Livelihoods and Tourism

This initiative not only seeks to boost the local economy by providing sustainable income opportunities for the youth but also aims to enhance the quality of accommodation available for tourists. Loan recipients will be required to maintain high standards of hospitality to ensure a memorable experience for travelers.

With a deadline of January 28, 2025, interested applicants are encouraged to seize this opportunity and submit their applications promptly.

A Winter Wonderland Amid Heavy Snowfall

As the loan scheme takes shape, northern areas of K-P are experiencing enchanting snowfall, adding to their allure. Tourist destinations such as Naran, Battakundi, and Shogran have been transformed into magical winter wonderlands, with snowfall exceeding a foot in some areas. The picturesque landscapes and increased cold have made these areas a must-visit for travelers seeking an authentic winter experience.

This dual focus on tourism development and youth empowerment promises to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a hub for cultural richness and scenic exploration.
