Rawalpindi Ring Road Project Reaches a Key Milestone with Soan Bridge Girder Installation

The Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project has achieved a significant milestone with the commencement of girder installations on the Soan Bridge, marking an important step in transforming regional infrastructure. This landmark development was inaugurated by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director-General Kinza Murtaza, who emphasized the project’s critical role in alleviating traffic congestion and boosting connectivity in Rawalpindi and beyond.

The Soan Bridge: A Crucial Link

Spanning the Soan River, the Soan Bridge girder forms a pivotal component of the RRR project. Once completed, the bridge will enhance the multi-lane highway, offering a safer, more efficient travel route and reducing traffic bottlenecks across the city. Director-General Kinza Murtaza underscored the importance of adhering to timelines while maintaining the highest quality standards for public safety and convenience.

Enhancing Regional Connectivity

The Rawalpindi Ring Road project, spearheaded by the RDA, is poised to revolutionize the city’s transportation network. Connecting major roads, highways, and industrial hubs, this initiative provides an alternative route to the congested city center. Not only will it improve travel times, but it will also contribute significantly to regional economic development.

Progress and Future Prospects

The project, which stretches 38.3 kilometers from Banth on GT Road to the Thallian Motorway Interchange, has seen 37% of its construction completed. Despite some delays, recent approvals of the revised PC-I by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) have provided renewed momentum. The RDA is working tirelessly to ensure the project’s timely completion by June 2025.

Stay tuned for updates on this transformative project and its impact on Rawalpindi’s urban landscape.
