Momina Iqbal Controversy: Saqib Chadhar Shares His Account of Their Past Relationship

The ongoing controversy involving Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal and Punjab MPA Saqib Chadhar has entered another closely watched phase after Chadhar discussed the matter at length in an interview with journalist Irshad Bhatti.

The conversation brought several disputed issues back into public view, including Chadhar’s account of how his relationship with Momina began, an alleged engagement, their reported travels together, claims involving gifts, and allegations concerning his wife. While Chadhar offered his version of events, the claims remain contested and should be understood as his account rather than established facts.

Chadhar Says Marriage Was Always His Intention

Speaking to Irshad Bhatti, Chadhar described his first encounter with Momina as the beginning of a relationship that, according to him, was intended to lead to marriage.

He said he first noticed the actress at a friend’s wedding and expressed an interest in marrying her. He later met her again at a restaurant in DHA after being introduced through the same friend.

According to Chadhar, a marriage proposal was subsequently sent to Momina’s family in early 2020, and he claimed that both families agreed to the proposal. He also stated that an engagement ceremony took place at Momina’s home in January 2020, attended by members of his family.

Chadhar rejected the characterization of their relationship as an affair, maintaining that marriage was his stated intention from the outset.

Flight Records Become Part of the Conversation

Another point discussed during the interview was Momina’s reported statement about being afraid of flying.

Chadhar challenged that claim by saying the actress had travelled with him on multiple occasions during their relationship. During the conversation, he showed Irshad Bhatti flight booking records that he said related to their trips.

The records discussed in the interview included domestic travel between Karachi and Islamabad, along with international bookings involving Dubai. Chadhar claimed that he had arranged the tickets and used the records to support his account that the pair had travelled together.

The records and Chadhar’s interpretation of them formed part of his response during the interview; they do not, by themselves, resolve the wider dispute between the two sides.

Dispute Over Gifts and Personal Belongings

The interview also revisited earlier discussion surrounding gifts and other belongings exchanged during the relationship.

Chadhar said that when he previously spoke publicly about the issue, his intention was to explain his side of the story. He denied saying that Momina was required to return items he had given her.

The subject remains part of the broader disagreement, with Chadhar offering his own clarification about what he says was actually communicated.

Chadhar Rejects Allegation Involving His Wife

One of the more serious allegations discussed by Bhatti concerned an alleged phone conversation between Chadhar’s wife and Momina.

As presented during the interview, the allegation suggested that his wife had contacted Momina over belongings and had allegedly threatened to cause difficulties for her marriage. Chadhar rejected the account and said the incident did not happen.

He then made a strong statement about what might happen if his wife publicly shared her own version of the events, warning that her account could create further difficulties for Momina.

Chadhar also denied that his wife had attempted to prevent Momina from marrying. Instead, he claimed that she wanted the actress to move forward with her life and wished for her to find a suitable match.

Claims About What Momina Knew

Chadhar further alleged that Momina was aware from the beginning that he was already married and had children.

He said she had met members of his family and had visited his village, where, according to his account, she met his siblings and their children.

These statements represent Chadhar’s version of the relationship and remain part of a wider dispute in which different accounts have emerged.

Chadhar Acknowledges His Own Mistake

During the interview, Bhatti also questioned Chadhar about his marriages and whether he had considered the possible consequences of his actions.

Chadhar acknowledged that he had made a mistake. Looking back, he said he regretted what he had done and believed he should not have acted in that manner.

His admission adds another dimension to an interview in which he simultaneously defended himself against several allegations while accepting responsibility for decisions he now considers wrong.

The Controversy Remains Unresolved

The latest interview comes against the backdrop of allegations previously raised by Momina, including claims of online harassment, cyberbullying and death threats. She has sought action from relevant authorities over those concerns.

Chadhar has denied the allegations and has now publicly presented his own narrative about the relationship, including the alleged engagement, shared travel and circumstances surrounding their separation.

For now, the central issues remain disputed. Chadhar’s interview has added his perspective to a controversy that has already generated significant public discussion, but the competing accounts mean that several claims cannot be treated as independently established facts.
