Senator Shibli Faraz, a key member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been removed from the travel restriction list following a court ruling on Monday.
The Islamabad High Court took up the case, revealing that despite a prior court order, Shibli’s name had remained on the travel ban list.
Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri presided over the hearing, where Shibli Faraz’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, appeared alongside representatives from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and passport and immigration authorities.
The FIA clarified that Shibli’s name was not on their Provisional National Identification List (PNIL), while passport and immigration officials confirmed that his name had already been removed from the Passport Control List (PCL).
However, the issue of the Exit Control List (ECL), which falls under the Ministry of Interior, remained unresolved.
After a brief recess, Assistant Attorney General Shaista Khalid informed the court that Shibli’s name had been removed from both the ECL and PCL.
Due to delays caused by road blockages, Ministry of Interior officials were on their way to submit an official report confirming Shibli’s name had been cleared from all travel restriction lists.
With the court satisfied that its orders had been implemented, the contempt of court application filed by Shibli Faraz was dismissed as no longer necessary.
