Veteran Pakistani actress Fazila Qazi has openly criticized the distribution of Presidential Awards, claiming they are often awarded based on personal connections rather than merit.
Fazila made these comments during an appearance with her husband, actor Qaiser Nizamani, on Tabish Hashmi’s show Hansna Mana Hai. During the interview, she shared her disappointment that many deserving artists are overlooked for national recognition, as reported by Express News.
She sarcastically remarked that she was thankful her husband received the Presidential Award back when it was given solely based on an artist’s work and not personal recommendations. Fazila also revealed that although files are prepared for artists under consideration, hers has been left idle for five years.
Expressing her frustration, Fazila criticized the authorities responsible for the awards, suggesting that hard-working artists are often ignored.
