Hira Mani's mantra for lost roles

In a recent podcast with Jawad Bashir, Hira Mani opened up about her career choices and the profound impact motherhood has had on her life.

“Sometimes, when I see a drama or film trailer, I think, ‘I could have done that,'” she admits, though it’s not something she dwells on. A quick look at her sleeping sons is enough to remind her of what truly matters. “There’s peace and comfort in my life, and that’s everything. A character can be played by almost any actor, but I am the only one who can be my sons’ mother,” she reflects.

Hira describes life as her greatest teacher, guiding her at every step. “Life has driven me toward becoming who I am today. It’s taught me to be more even-minded, to listen, to understand others, and to think less about myself,” she shares. She emphasizes the importance of growth, understanding, and grounding oneself. “Life is the biggest teacher. Happiness is a practice, and anyone happy all the time isn’t truly happy.”

For the Yaqeen Ka Safar actor, happiness isn’t about seeking personal fulfillment but about celebrating others. “Happiness should be something you practice on others more than yourself,” she explains. “For example, if someone wins an award or their drama is successful, I feel instant happiness for them.”

Hira also debunks the ideal of “true love,” saying it’s more about habit than romance. “True love is a concept from films. I would give my life for habit, not love. People become my habit more than love,” she reveals, embracing a grounded, realistic view of relationships.
