BISP Launches New Skill Training Initiative to Empower Families

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has launched a remarkable new initiative, aiming to transform the lives of underprivileged families across Pakistan by equipping them with essential skills to start small businesses. This latest effort is another step in BISP’s ongoing mission to uplift deserving households, offering practical solutions to achieve financial independence and break the cycle of poverty.

The announcement was made by Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of BISP, during her visit to a BISP campsite at Government High School Iqbal Town, Lahore. The visit provided Senator Khalid with an opportunity to observe the facilities and interact directly with women receiving their quarterly Kafaalat stipends.

Listening to the People

During her interaction, Senator Rubina Khalid attentively listened to the concerns of the beneficiaries, particularly issues of overcrowding at payment centers. In response, she directed BISP officials to conduct surveys at tehsil offices to streamline the payment process and reduce long wait times.

A Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

Addressing media representatives, Senator Khalid underscored BISP’s critical role in empowering women and uplifting marginalized communities. She proudly highlighted that the program is currently supporting an impressive 9.5 million families across Pakistan, with plans for further expansion in the near future.

To ensure greater transparency and efficiency, BISP has introduced a new payment system in collaboration with six partner banks. This system ensures safer and more accessible disbursement of funds for beneficiaries. Senator Khalid also issued a crucial reminder for beneficiaries to trust only the official BISP number, 8171, to avoid fraudulent schemes.

Honoring the Vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto

Senator Khalid paid tribute to the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, reiterating that BISP remains deeply committed to women’s economic empowerment. She also praised the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, emphasizing their dedication to expanding and strengthening the program for the betterment of deserving families across Pakistan.

The introduction of the skill training initiative is a testament to BISP’s mission of creating sustainable opportunities for underprivileged families, empowering them to build better futures for themselves and their children.
